Michael A. Sanzo, PhD, JD
I have a PhD in Biochemistry, did a postdoctoral fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine and worked as a Senior Scientist at Monsanto Corporation in Saint Louis for a period of seven years. I also have a law degree from St. Louis University, School of Law and over 25 years of experience as a patent attorney working in the areas of biotechnology, chemistry and pharmaceuticals for large, well-known companies in the US and Europe as well as for mid-sized companies and start-ups. I have obtained over 325 US patents for clients and coordinated prosecution with associates in Australia, Canada, Europe, China, Japan and several other countries or regions. In addition, I have authored numerous publications in scientific and law journals and am named as an inventor on several patents.
For my first 13 years as a patent attorney I worked at large law firms in Washington DC. Since the beginning of 2007, I have worked independently, ably assisted by my wife. We work with large, medium and small clients providing counseling and legal services relating to the development of worldwide patent protection in the areas of biotechnology and chemistry. Either directly, or through contacts with attorneys at other firms, we can provide essentially any services that a client may need relating to the development and protection of intellectual property in these technological areas.
